A. Honey
There is a record of some archeologists in Egypt who found a large urn filled
with 2000 year old honey, identified by tasting (probably a long time before
the health and safety current climate), the only thing wrong with it was that

The phrase "rule of thumb" is derived from an old English
law which stated that you couldn't beat your wife with
anything wider than your thumb.

Dear Jean, and Lace-Makers,
thank you for the very funny and provocative list.
But I must rise to this one item: Churchill was NOT born in a ladies' loo!

Dragonflies
I'm afraid that Dragonflies generally live longer than a day. Even if you only
count the time spent as an adult. The nymphs live underwater and can take a

I haven't checked on it, but it's been widely said over the last couple of
weeks that Oliver Cromwell passed a law banning the celebration of Christmas

I live in Kentucky, and just let me say, we have some weird laws here. One
that is still on the books is that No person is allowed to walk through
downtown with an ice cream cone in their back pocket.
I'm sure that's a serious problem and all...

No baths a year are quite enough. I've had only one bath since we moved
