Hello All,
Everything is happening in Florida, or so it seems. This 1200 has been on
the market for a while, but I just found it. It has an upgraded Z axis, a
motor, a rotary table, and a 2x gear.

Actually an 1000 with upgraded z-axis and aftermarket motor setup. I'd jump on
this if I was in the market.

Can anyone lend some advice for cutting the male section of a sliding dovetail?
Specifically to round off the end that will match the rounded female end. It
seems possible with the use of a template as a guide, but I can't wrap my head
around how to dimension the template. I plan on using a 3/4
Hello Brandon
This is something that I've never done, but I think the easiest way would be
to buy a template and then use that on the Legacy's template follower.
Woodline sells a nice set http://www.woodline.com/c-468-route-r-joint-.aspx
and Ive seen alum. and plastic dovetail sets at Rockler,
maybe if you cut the female part first you will be able to trace it
out on a scrap. sneak up on it and try that. I saw something similar
on a video of the woodrat router system, you might want watch their
thing . I think it will work.

I don't think I'd bother with the rounded end. Just remove some material for
clearance so the male slides into the female. Without making a jig, the
male portion on the legacy is tricky. Legacy has a video using the revo
that will give you an idea of how they did it.
Interesting thought about using the Rockler template. I actually have the
Rockler Jig with the template. I'll have to see if I can rig something up.
Thanks for the ideas.

Tim,
I've wathced this video many times. I think the video on Bits has a clip about
making rounded tenons. I thought there might be an easy way to combine the two.
I have considered just squaring off the male at the level where the rounded end
starts on the female end. The square peg in the

To post to this
Brandon, when I do sliding dovetails I usually just make a plywood template
the shape and size that i need
Then screw it to the end of the blank that you want to cut and then then
use a guide bushing in the router and follow it
Around the template, and then your good to go, with this method you

Ccm, do have a picture demonstrating this? I think I follow you, but a picture
would help.
Thanks,

You
Mac, I have a couple of pics and I made a sketch to demonstrate part of what we
were talking about. Give me a day or so to put it together. All the files are
on different devices.
