I think it really depends on the size of your machine larger machines need
larger morse tapers to handle heaver operations your machine will do.the larger
the morse taper the more surface area it has to drive whatever you put in it
But in a medium size lathe or the legacy mill i like a number 2
I was playing with a design with the spiral but decided the spiral was too
fancy for a farm table. Also the "beads" below the spiral were too big so I
went with the plain taper. Sure wish I could score the old Legacy "design
kit"
I have trouble visualizing what a cutter looks like with partial or

I do have 1" X 8 thread check but it only opens to 3" I think. The legs I
were turning for a table are 4" and 5" Sq at top[image: Inline image 2]

Oh, I already said that. Does the headstock have a threaded head for adding a
4 jaw chuck? I rarely use my LOM dogs anymore since adding one to my LOM.
Does it have the #1 morse taper headstock?
