The O-ring solely for the purpose of holding the pieces together. It doesn't
protrude outside of the chucks. When using, I only lost a couple out of
hundreds. Some were lost to over tightening and the grain split. However it
might also have been the wood. Hard to say for sure.PVC is a very

To clarify, I'm asking about the diameter of the so called dead center that
legacy made in house that has a smaller diameter than 1".That example is a
stellar tailstock that I've admired since you posted it in 2012. Thanks for
showing it!Tim

I realize you can determine the max diameter that will fit, starting out, on your Mill. That is determined by the width between your rails. Thinking about it - that max will also be influenced by the finished "edge" you want. If you want there to be a 1/2" or 3/4" edge vs having it taper down
It has been a few years since I have used mine. But when I did I drew a circle
slightly smaller than the turning capacity of the machine, then made sure the
parts would fit inside it.

Has anyone calculated what are the largest sized pieces of 2x material you can run with Pilaster mounts on a LOM? Assuming a 4-sided Pilaster Mount. It appears to me that if you go to a pentagon shaped (or more) Pilaster Mount, you will reduce the max size that will fit between the
Hi Tim,Pretty cool! For sure! Thanks for sharing. You mentioned that the assembly is held together by the o-ring. The unintended consequence of the feature is you are also benefiting from the slight amount of friction (grab) that the o-ring provides - helping to keep the block being secured from
No, it isn't that big. It is 3 ft by about 20 inches.
However, the person that built the work table made it like 6 feet long so
that a computer can
be placed by it.

Yesterday, I decided on getting a bigger CNC (Shard HD3). It is coming
tomorrow and I really don't have a lot of room in my shop.
I have decided to take down my Legacy and sell it.
Is anyone interested in an 1000 that is over 8 feet long?
I paid $800 for it in Chicago and that is what I

Woodpeckers Board Mill Vs a Planer Sled:
Woodpeckers get handsome prices for all of their wares but in this case why
bother, a simple planer sled is so much more efficient, quicker and almost no
cost and in my case my planer can handle warped boards
That sure is lots of trouble to do something a lot simpler.
Notch 2X4s on either end of a pair of 2x3 steel tubing. Insert the tubing into
the notches. Check for flat. Make a sled a lot longer than the distance between
the tubing rails, mount your router on the sled and gotoflatening .

Subject: Tailstocks through the years
I’m looking for variations on the theme of tailstocks, mostly late model
machine. The first one on the modern machines (900/1200/1800) all came with a
1” diameter tailstock with a 60° angle. For later version legacy dialed down
the diameter and I believe length. That is what I’m hoping to
