I think it sounds like a good idea, I think mounting the templates could
be as simple as the ShopSmith actually or mine on my big lathe has a slot
with multiple wing nuts. I have the Vega. Do you have any LOM rail? you
could
make a nice system using that?
My biggest concern is getting it all to
HI Tim
Making a new template follower is my goal. I'm not sure how or what I will
change to do so. My template follower that I made is pretty neat already, I
used Uni-strut and ran it through my rails. T bolts hold it onto the Extruded
alum. I made it so my templates were in the front of the
Very nice job on those barley twist spindles. 2 1/4" HUMM?Could you post a
photo of your new gear or gears you had made?
How did you do it? a new drive gear? or a gear reduction?
What router bit/ barley twist bit, did you use to cut those?
Again Nice job. I am glad it all worked out for you.
Hey Anthony,
Those spindles look very impressive.
Great job. Yes I think we all end up buying bits.
I actually went to Magnate and had him generate a list of
all the router bits they make for the LOM's and I was shocked
I don't have 5 percent of what they carry.
We really appreciate you sharing

Hey Bill,
Awesome as usual Bill. I can't say enough about your drive and motivation
as always. I like that you and Curt both always show finished products.
Me I show grooves and not much else. You are truly an inspiration.
I do have some 4 X 4's glued up just for LOM play.
Keep it up Sir.

Well pretty impressive nonetheless Bill, at least you got out and fired it
up.
I was in the shop but only ripping Stile and Rail for our cabinets. Then
had someone
come up and bought my gravity boxes and running gear.
Money for more Legacy bits so I can get creative like you.

Yeah for sure this would be awesome using the rotary table too.

Hey Curt if you can get something modified so it follows a template as
smooth
as the Weing Grinders I spent more then 20 years grinding tooling on I'm
all for it.
I also had a Terrco Carver that floated super smooth. Thats what I would
see in the
future of making it better.
the problem of course
They sure are different looking very nice job slightly tapered too it looks
like, I'm glad you finally got the job done its been a while I bet it sure has
been a learning experience for you.
A custom router bit and a gear cut I bet that was not a cheap expense but worth
it to get exactly what
Nicely done

Bill,
Way to go! Don't pass up an opportunity to "create" (re-purpose
scraps/leftovers) a "piece of art".
I am sure there are at least 3 folks "down under" that will buy it from you.
(And maybe one in MinnieSoda.)
Your task is to find one of them - willing to pay you $499 for it! LoL!
Mac
Bill,
Very nice! I especially like how you made the 2nd spiral/twist a light color
(white?) - so it contrasts with the brown stained outer spiral.
Are you able to still rotate the middle spiral - or are all three now "locked"
together (with glue?).
Curious - how sturdy and how stable is
Thanks Bill
I must have missed something? ( just went back, you did say it.)
I could not figure out how you made that kind of off-set on a rope. ;-)
I still think its pretty Kool! Thank you.
