Well done Cooper,
I am pretty certain you can do most anything anyone else can.
I just picked another lom up yesterday and is a steely. Your price point
was good.
Not sure how many responded to the email yet as it looks like it went
pretty late. lol
I have the exact pattern of that plate you need

Hello Cooper. I am very happy for you. those bracket ON the back side of your
machine are for holding a template follower plate to be mounted to the back of
your machine. As far as the router plate. that is an easy one to make. Plexie
glass or alum are all you need. two tapped hole for the lead
Thanks Cooper,
Certainly looking forward to your decision and your approach to the CNC. my
suggestion then would be the Aluminum rails.
As Curt suggested, putting on the linear Bearings. It would be much easier
to adapt for that application. I believe you will find
smoother travel that way. I hav
Hello CooperDo you have the links to these Legacy's? so we can see what you
are looking at? There is a very good chance someone in the group would see
something that you would not see, looking at these links.
I can not help you with the CNC idea, but I do know there are a few people in

Thank you all for the speedy and valuable input. Many good points to
consider. They are both bench-top units and neither includes a drive motor.
I like the idea of adding linear rail to either unit and could see myself
attempting a full CNC conversion down the road if it seems worth it (DIY,

Router etc... off the steely and put it on the 1000 with aluminum rails.
Then you have extras,

Good luck on your decision. And welcome to the gr
My opinion is aluminium rail all the way legacy moved away from steel rails
because they were to prone to movement where aluminium extrusion is much
stiffer. Also most extras you will find will be for aluminium rails
So if I was buying a mill it would be the Aluminium rail Legacy 1000, route
Hello again Copper.
Just to make sure i said this right. drive motor A+ in my book/ must have...7
drive gears should be there.standard gear set should be there as well. the
other gear sets, .25 & X2 were sold a extras. so they too would be a good sale
factor. The router was over $400.00 new.
Hello Cooper.
Both sound like a good deal, Depending on the amount of work you will need
to do in order to get them working as they should.
If both of these machines have all the parts, either could be a good deal.
Dose either one come with a drive motor?
Check on the gears, 7 drive gears, and
