FTM does make the best charts of all kinds, when will Legacy do the same,
I used to use Mac's Reunion, still think it has all the best features.
May have to go back to FTM or Reunion if the next update of Legacy does not
include a great charting program, that is Real Trees as in its name.
My guess is that you are seeing the LOCATION where the backup file
will be stored, and that you installed Legacy 6 into the Legacy5
folder. If that is the case, no, it doesn't matter.

Well, just a small word of caution. On another post, Judie has been

You can avoid that sentence in the report by ticking the
Dear Judie,
Thankyou for that.

certainly I don't want to start taking facts such as marriage for

I guess that as a bodge one could tick the 'this couple did not marry'

Hi LUGies,
I would like to make a count of each blood-line family member, by generation.
Is there anyway I can use Legacy to find that information and crank out the numbers?
For example: The way my family line begins:
1st Gen. - original couple
2nd Gen. - 2 children
3rd Gen. - 25 grandch

Hi Nancy,
I get almost identical problem for any year;
Using 2006 is easiest to do:
Jan 1 = 05 Aug 2006
Feb 1 = 02 Jan 2006
Mar 1 = 03 Jan 2006
Apr 1 = 04 Jan 2006
May 1 = 05 Jan 2006
Jan 2 = 01 Feb 2006
Under Options Dates I have selected dates displayed as 21 Jan 1953

Thank you, Paul, I do believe you've solved the problem. I reset my
computer to D-M-Y (just like what was in Legacy) and rebooted it & have
not been able to recreate the original problem. It was unusual though
that it only occured in 1993, wasn't it? Anyway, thanks again for your help.
Nancy
I export from my main file all persons who would be found in a film or
series of films, (say Rheinsheim, Baden). When I'm looking at the films of
the area it's easier to navigate a smaller, all pertinant list of names,
sources, locations. From time to time I import the subsidiary file back into

Nancy,
1993 was not a leap year and when I tested the Calendar function for the
dates you used it worked perfectly for me. I also tried it in Version
5.0 as well as Version 6.0 since you did not say which version you are
using. Both worked the same way.

Cathy,
I referred your request to Geoff as a candidate for the enhancement project.
It will take a change to the data base to implement this since the
structure of the Location Table will have to be changed and this may
have quite an extensive impact on how all the programs use locations.

Hi Jack,
I'd do the following:
1. Open the file you want to split
2. Open the slit screen
3. When it asks if want to open a new file, select yes, and give it a name
for your ancestors.
4. In the main file, select the individual you want their ancestors.

Legacy saves data to your hard drive pretty much as it is entered.
