I had a fleeting problem with Legacy that turned out to have been caused by the McAfee security suite. (It was also messing up other programs.) I'm now using another virus scan product with no issues anywhere. I'm on XP Home edition. Is it possible your problems are from your security

In the Individual Information window, to the right of the locations is a blue triangle pointing down, a grayed out plus sign, and an icon with a globe and binoculars on it. I -think- there is a shortcut key that will allow you to go to the blue triangle for whichever location field you are in.

I enter the child with the parents, then mark the end of the child's **given name** with a tilde (~). On Family View for both the parents and child, the tilde is a clear indicator something is amiss. On Individual view for the child, the tilde at the end of the given name is also in evidence.
