this mistake or user problem. If it's in the hardcopy Users Guide, I
could not search it out. In that case, I ignored the bumper sticker:

Thank you everyone who replied. I did know about the Alt. Birth and other
events (actually, I think I read the article mentioned a couple of months
ago - and went and quickly changed all I could find in my files.) I had

Some time ago I imported a gedcom in which some of the names and
their data were in italics while others were in bold. While I'm
cleaning up all the data after transferring the database from FTM
to Legacy, I'd like to get rid of all of the formatting I do not

With the information you have given, and presuming you don't have formatting
codes in your text, the italics indicates persons of unknown gender. The
bold indicates the person is a direct line ancestor, if you have that set.
