What have I done and what should I do next please ?
Dave,
I cannot think of how it can be done at present. The list of Surnames is not a
problem but the first and last date it occurs is not automatically available
and it doesn't seem possible to print it in that format.
No doubt it can be done manually by creating a spread sheet but with a
Valerie,
If you use the Legacy defaults the path is incorrect and should be
C:\Legacy\Data\1whole.fdb. Try going to that location and double-clicking that
file to open. Legacy should then be able to find it again.

In my state of panic I have made a mistake.
I meant to type ' C:\Legacy\Data\1whole.fdb so I still have the problem.

No one knows - or is prepared to divulge. Try 6.0.0.178 from Jan 16th.
That may have corrected some errors introduced by .177 and is, at least,
partially described on the web

Lavern,
I'm not as expert as some around here, but there are two comments I

definitely keep all the collateral lines in one file. You'd want to be

I agree. It is better in my view to have one file, your Master File, so that

Hi Lavern,
Welcome.
I'd advise you to keep one Family File. Collateral lines have a habit

Hi Cathy,
Legacy provides 3 options for approximate dates
About, Calculated and Circa.
Since Circa means About, I'm not sure why the double up except that
some people prefer the Latin.

I use Est for estimated dates, that is, dates, where I do simple

I suggest one big file for the folowing reasons:
1). Ease of keeping track of sources, etc. No duplicate data entry needed
2). Ease of creating reports. If lines intermarry the lines can be easily
followed.
3). It is always easier to split out a subgroup from a big file than it is to

10 Aug 1853-54
10 Aug 1853/1854
10 Aug 1853 or 1854

When you say I usually put something in my notes to indicate the basis

The way I handle that is this way...
I put the main date in the family view (the one I think is more likely)
10 Aug 1853

10 Aug 1854
In the notes section I will explain it.
On his death certificate and his tombstone his date of birth

Cal 1840 means that I have an age and date, so I've calculated the

I have been able to input 1843-1844, 1822-1828 with no problem. I have also

With each upgrade it has become easier to use multiple dates.
