These files are created by Legacy when you create a Focus Group (.FG) or a
To-Do Clipboard (.TC). If you delete, and rerun these functions, Legacy
will just re-generate them.

If I was you, I'd leave those alone. I don't know exactly what they are
but if your database is for instance named My Family and then you have
files called My Family.FG and My Family.TC, those are probably part of
your database and why are you messing around in there?

Legacy User Group guidelines:
I figured out a way to use an Excel Visual Basic macro to read the GEDCOM file
and create a new GEDCOM file that converts all pre-1805 birthdates (BIRT in
GEDCOM) to christening dates (CHR in GEDCOM).
So I was able to simply export my Legacy database to a GEDCOM file, then run

I used to be able to see the File ID #'s at the bottom of the Sources
List in the Name List. They've suddenly disappeared. Any ideas?

Dan,
Agreed. I only have, maybe 50 pages with pictures and probably only 10 or so

that I have to change every page (pedigree) in order to correct other Legacy's

Hi Ron,
I too have the problem with GIF files, but as I have only 3 GIF files
requiring transparency, I hadn't thought of mentioning it. I would really
like to at least see an option when creating web pages and html reports to
not convert our attached image files to JPG format.

Hi Beau,
Hmmm, ok, maybe not exactly a bug, and perhaps it was originally a "design
decision" by the programmers.
I understand Internet Explorer, espeically versions 3 and 4 had
compatibility problems with the PNG format for graphics files. However, that
problem was overcome for the most par

I am scared to ask but how big is your DB? I am at about 3500. I know
being able to see the migration patterns in front of me will help.

I had guessed that, and so mentioned my DB size to not
discourage those with smaller files. I ran it just
now, it was 5 minutes to load and 15 minutes to load
the map. I realize it is tied to my hardware
situation, but it is annoying to reload after a few
edittings. I do like to print the various
It is even worse than this! It also converts GIF to jpg - and note that it also
changes the file name in the coding as well as the file. I haven't found any
way of changing them back other than manually and this I have to go with
several as I make use of transparency.

Adding functionality to convert image formats
I have many graphic files in PNG format rather than all JPG's attached to
Legacy. This is especially useful for smaller files of black and white scans
of text documents. With a PNG file I can typically have a very nice quality
image about 1/7 the size of a comparable JPG file.

Maybe that amount of people is the difference with it taking so long to
load. I have a small database of 220 people and it seem to run fine.
Thanks for your input.
