Diane,
Or it could be as simple as - they never made it to the new drive!
Sometimes (unless you check) - you can think you sent things to a drive
when you did not. One other - if there is NOTHING - was the hard drive
formatted in the first place? Just two possibilities...

This sad event brings up the importance of having duplicate backups. I
personally keep my working data files on my PC but then make backups to an
external drive. Sending copies to family members (in my case my children)
also assures further redundancy. Having just one copy of anything is always
The next update to Legacy will have an option button where you can
choose to add the date (and time) to the backup file name.
The backup screen will also default to the current family file name for
both the data and multimedia files. The multimedia backup will be named

Does anyone know the status of the upgrade to Ver. 7.0.0.55?

I guess when you say 50 years from now you're assuming nothing will be

Just my experience:
I have had multiple experiences of data loss, computer death, etc., before I
even started doing genealogy. Now not only do I have genealogy information
on my computer but also financial data, doing pretty much everything via

There was nothing wrong with the HD or the files/folders I

that when I opened the HD drive I saw a blank screen.

Hi,
I am new to Legacy and if I click on the source icon under an individual, then
highlight an event I am unable to Cite a Source. The button is light gray. I
do have a Master Source List. Please tell me if I am doing something wrong.
If so, what is the correct way to Cite the Source.
According to Legacy Charting Help System, there is a Picture Setting
Tab on the Charting Ribbon that would allow me to size the picture
and thus fit 4 generations on one page. I have photos included on my
ancestor chart but cannot activate the picture setting tab. How do I
get it to work?

Chick,
Because there are no options to change it, this is not possibe. I suspect it is
there in case of future enhancements.

The picture setting tab is also shown on page 210 of the Legacy User

Chick,
Click Insert on the menu bar. Then choose Picture. The Picture

Do you have a backup copy of your database? If so, restore using your copy and

OK, thanks. The picture setting tab comes up after a picture is

picture in the box on the ancestor chart. I guess it can't be done
but it would be nice if Legacy gave that same picture adjustment

Smart people will migate as technology changes. But frankly, not everyone is
diligent in that regard. We don't need to wait for later generations for the

What exactly do you mean by status? That update has been in release for
quite some time now. If you are on v. 7 and haven't installed it, you
probably should.

I think that Ruth means an upgrade _TO_ v7.0.0.55. In other words, the next
