Above is an example of how I transcribe a census line
into Legacy's Source Text (only one line for this
example).
Do others include the editorial brackets beside the
'do's and
I keep a census event and Master Source for each
census.
The Master Source Text is what I have typed below
(exactly as the census illustrates), but in the Census
Event I write a more story-like (friendlier) version
of the census.

after looking at our two examples I am definitely a
splitter.
A quick example of my census method (I love using real
examples -
I have an odd trio of surnames:
BOTHERIDGE, Blotheridge and Brotheridge
BOTHERIDGE is the version I have decided to go with as
that was the surname my great-grandmother signed on
her marriage register. (This was the first time I can
find someone in this line signing their own name.)
I have two
. It said something like, another
name for Jane Doe was
Dough. So now I include both names so that it reads
another name for Jane
Doe was Jane Dough.

other information you include in the file name. I am
just starting to file my documents using the MRIN
system, and need to come up with a good electronic
file naming system.
