Question for everyone...
Does anyone use the "Unspecified" line (it's the 1st source reference) under
"Assigned Sources" for an individual???
If you do ... for what purpose??? Is it necessary to use???

Legacy User Group
When I was using my old desktop with XP Home Edition... the Legacy folder
was NOT found under "programs", but was listed under "my computer" - that's
where it ended up being down-loaded to when I 1st got the programme.
Now, on my new laptop with Vista - it's also found under "my computer"...
I recently (about 2 months ago) obtained a new computer - a Compac Presario
with Vista (it was a deal at Best Buys).
I have had absolutely NO problems transferring programmes from my old
desktop (which still sits here looking rather lonely and forgotten) to the
laptop
using jumpdrives - I'd

etc. where does one put this notation?
I was thinking as putting "End of Male Line" as a "child" - but, for me that
would "mess up" my names list (which I like to keep as "clean" as possible).

I just got a new laptop w/ Vista... copied the entire Legacy file (after
cleaning out some unwanted .ged) onto a 2GB capacity jumpdrive and transferred
everything to the laptop.
I then "re-installed" the programme (you will need to use the password given
to you way back when you 1st installed
I use the correct name 'n put the incorrect name under AKAs (with a notation
in the source)

As far as I know attachments aren't allowed in Yahoo groups either - a
matter of computer 'security".
My thought would be if someone wanted an attachment sent to them - then it
should be sent to their "actual" e-mail address instead of through the legacy

I have an old version of FTM that I transferred over to my laptop... the
ONLY time I use this programme is to "read" the various CD-ROMs (that I
purchased) that are available from genealogy.com.
Legacy had been recommended to me and I went out and purchased a copy -
started out with version 5
I enter will info under an event heading called "Wills - General
Information", I also have an event heading called "Estate Information"...

That's a good idea - never thought about putting the 1st letter of the
surname as the indication. Too late now, for me... I've about 39,000
individuals
and it would take eons to change... lol.

You might try making a "zip" file of what you want to send by e-mail... if
you don't have a programme to do this - there are several out there for free.
The "zip" file is a compressed version of the file and your recipient will
have to also have a programme wo un-zip the folder.

I just purchased a laptop computer - with Windows Vista. My desk-top has
Windows XP.
I have Legacy Deluxe (which means I have all the features and a customer #).
What I want to do is copy my Legacy programme and all the relevant files to
my laptop (keeping the original on the desktop). When th

this everytime I am "finished for the day" - saves writing down the
