You did not do anything wrong. The list when you open the assigned
sources for a person lists all the places you can add a source. It is up
to you to decide as with "did not marry" and "had no children", if they
apply.

That's the field you'd want to move to were you sourcing such an event. the
fact the second column is blank indicates an unused/unsourced event.
