For users that have utilized this feature, is there one particular company
or test that the majority of people use?

Hi Rob and all,
Family Tree DNA has, by far, the most customers, the greatest number of
surname and other projects, the largest databases, and the greatest range of
DNA tests. I've taken every test they offer and I manage two of their
projects. I have attended all three of their annual
To: Bill Hurst,
After your extensive testing, what data were you able to add to your legacy
family tree file?

Rob,
I happened to use Relative Genetics, but that's neither here nor there.
What matters to me was I was contacted by a second cousin in Barrie, ON, who
was able to match his test results with mine. BTW, this cousin is also
named James Terry and we have the same great-grandfather

Well, I haven't done tonnes of research
mtDNA tests information through the mother's line (so wouldn't have anything
about my McCaslin's...) it is a test that I could actually take - but
I'm really not sure how much use it would be to me As it gives me info

I would say Family Tree DNA seems to have the greatest number. We have
discovered at least 4 groups of McCains from Northern Ireland (Ulster). I
have added quite a few contacts and am VERY close to an entire line

I started five years ago with 12 markers and over the years upgraded to 85
markers with FTDNA. Twelve is too few, since

Hi Jim:
Very cool to not only get results, but a result with such a strong
connection to your family history.
How many test markers did you go with? As I mentioned to Bill, I can see
where more would be better, but are the lesser (and cheaper) tests still
worthwhile?
Thanks
