Hello again listers,
In reference to my last message about my user files: My
monthly backup is a full backup of the program to an external
drive. The Legacy program is on my D drive so it looks like this:
D:\leg usr files
D:\Legacy
All of these files are backed up along with the data -
If I am reading correctly, you wish to utilize a
backup other than the most recent? did you save them
with a different name (ie. adding the date to the full
file name) I suspect that you have been coping on top
of the older versions, (replacing). I do not create
multiple versions of backup, but
Hi Myrna,
I'm not exactly sure what you are saying.
Do you have a folder D:\leg usr files where you've been copying your
usr files as a backup?
Then you that up monthly to G drive?
The active usr files are in D:\Legacy
They only work in the same folder as the program.
If I've understood you
Thanks Cathy Richard,
Undoubtedly I have not been backing up the correct files in
Legacy (to my external backup drive). I uninstalled the current
Legacy program and reinstalled from my backup (which was done
before I screwed up my settings). They still don't work - it goes
to the default
I am Sorry about your losses. When you first close
down Legacy, make it always ask DO YOU WANT A BACKUP?
The next time create a file name that is to be saved.
Make it simple, like mine is MyDB. If you want to save
multiple versions then make a name like MyDB20070625,
which saves on 'today's date',
I have seen others talk about the user files and I just now went
back and checked the program. I have NO .usr files anywhere. No
wonder I haven't been able to back them up. Where did they go???
Myrna
Have you unlocked the real power of Legacy? Legacy 6.0 Deluxe has 92 features

Thanks for the info Rich. Yes, I ALWAYS do a backup on exit. This
only saves the data and not the settings for the program. Once a
week I backup the Legacy program and all data/media to a
different hard drive and at least once a month I backup the
Legacy program and data/media to an external
YEA!!! I found them. Now, someone please tell me why they are
listed as PerfectExpert database files? I have been looking at
these not knowing they were .usr files until I did a search of
all my hard drives and they showed up as the PE db files. I never
would have figured that one out.
Myrna
Myrna,
The USR files are in the program directory that it is installed in.

cannot find any .usr files on my computer. I have also looked in
the archives and cannot find anything that tells me where they
are - just that they are. PLEASE, where are they?

Alice,
Yes, that must be it! I do use WordPerfect instead of Word. I
sure did miss that msg in the archives but never would have
noticed it anyway if it was talking about WP. Now I do remember
that I told the program to use WP for a word processing program.
DU! I guess senility has gotten
