Hello List
I find it strange that within the past hour I have sent two emails to the list
seeking advice but they have not appeared on my computer even though I have
received answers to the questions, so clearly my messages must be appearing.
Can anyone explain this?

It depends a lot on your email provider.
For instance, on gmail you don't see your own posting, until you get a
response from someone (at which point you see your own too.)Probably
your email provider just doesn't give you your own email to the list.

John,
When I send an email to a list, that returns my email to my account,
my email does not show up in my In Box for Yahoo.com or Gmail.com. So
I think that is pretty typical behavior of an email client. You can
always click on the Archives link at the bottom of each email to see

What you might consider is that your server is 'slow'
in some way or another. Where are you in the world,
I'm in California. Send an e-mail to yourself and see

I don't have this issue with my ISP. If I did, I'd probably BCC myself
whenever posting to LUG. My filters would then sort it into my LUG
email, so it would simulate me receiving it on time. Sometimes we have
to trick computers to get them to do what we want--if only they'd stop

Susan, don't confuse a web-based mail client with a real email client
such as Firefox. What you ascribe as typical behaviour for an email
client only applies to web-based mail clients. You are correct when you
imply this behaviour for Yahoo and Gmail.
Real email clients do it properly!
