The only way I can think of doing this is via a Gedcom.
Search for those who are Related
Search > Find - Individual - Relationship - equal to - Related
Then tag these and export the tagged group and tick the box on the
export to add parents of tagged individuals.

Couldn't she also use View-> Tree Finder and Tag everyone in her main
tree? The other families who aren't connected would be in their own
trees, wouldn't they?
Too bad you can't export from the Tree Finder, or create a new family
tree file from that window!
So perhaps another suggestion would be
I believe that putting two databases side by side and dragging what you want
to the other one, you have choices about what part of the related tree you
wish to move. That may help your problem.

Using the Tree Finder you can tag everyone in one or more selected
tree(s) and then export them to a new family file.

If I've understood Alice correctly, she can't do that as many of the
people she wants to shed *are* connected to her relatives as she has
followed many side lines and for this purpose wants to shed them.
