What you describe is consistent for me. If cursor stops on a child I first
get small spouse list momentarily, then the second larger box. If I then
move cursor slightly within the child box the first box reappears along with
the second box.

That only happens if you have them turned on in Customize/General/Popup
ToolTips and Popup Information boxes. You can also turn them off if the
boxes flashing up get on your nerves. They make me jump every single time.

Well, I have a strange thing too - so am wondering how it is for others. I
have found another thing that I didn't realise happens. When I *rest* the
arrow pointer on a child in the children's list *sometimes* their spouse (or
all of them, if more than one) will come up and stay up in a small bo
