It seems to me that if you have lots of customized settings, it would be in
your own best interest to have a record of them before updating the program.
This is simple: do a print screen of the various options windows and save
them for future reference.

You can check if you have the latest update by opening Legacy, going to Legacy
Home. In the right hand column, there is a box labeled updates. Read what it
says in there. Legacy 7.0.0.55 is the latest update.
