C.G. I think your best choice is to load your ged file into a text editor and do a global search and replace. I presume that is what you are doing now. This is a relatively simple process. Another way is to resurrect all your dead persons in Legacy by making them living. But this is not nearly

C.G. I'm confused by your request. If you are exporting non-living people, why would you want to delete the tag DEAT Y Legacy is creating the correct Gedcom tag in this instance, if the person is marked as non-living but has no death date. If you delete the DEAT tag, FTM would (should)
