Toni,

go back. I had a slight problem when I imported my FTM created GedCom
the 1st time - I ended up with spaces in the middle of words in notes.
That was long before I knew about this group so I e-mailed
in the notes section but I didn't
know I could have avoided that.

Dawn, it scares me a little that the AVG message at the bottom of your
posts say your virus database is out of date.

I too switched from FTM after using it since their first version. The only
problem I had was file cleanup because Legacy does such a good job with
the county verifier, potential problems, findings dups etc. that FTM doesn't
do.

I did some testing on FTM's gedcom creation recently. Prior to FTM

Toni,
I moved from FTM and had no problems. Some clean up was required as I had
broken trees and other issues not easily seen in FTM. I love Legacy and
would never go back. What problems are you having. This group is very
helpful if you are specific about your questions.

What kind of problems? I moved from FTM to Legacy and haven't had any problems.
Just some clean up work.

I converted from FTM via GEDCOM some time ago without a single hiccup. Of
course, I was shocked by the data entry inconsistencies that were nearly
invisible in FTM but very apparent (and relatively easy to correct) in
Legacy.
You shouldn't be put off by the problems posted to the list.
Have you tried exporting from FTM again? Maybe there were some export and/or
import options that would help.
