I cannot comment on FTM v Legacy, as apart from creating odd reports I have not
used the former.
1) Yes, Legacy only stores the path and not the picture, hence on export only
the path is sent. Strictly speaking the pictues are, therefore no longer linked
to Legacy on the host PC. The

Using Legacy to make a website you can choose to include photos. Generally,
when you make webpages with Legacy you create the webpages in a directory
under Legacy on your computer and then upload the pages to your website
location. You do have to upload the pictures as well as the p
Family Tree Maker, I understand, it basically makes a whole copy of
each picture and stores it in the program. This also takes up more
hard disk space generally, as you usually have the picture someplace
on your hard drive for use elsewhere, and then it takes space again in
the FTM file.
