Check your Windows system font settings. They need to be at either the
default 96 or 120 dpi.
Legacy doesn't do well with custom font sizes.
Right click on the background, select Properties and on the Settings tab,
click on the Advanced button

Is the issue that the Legacy Window does not fill the whole screen (in
other words there is still some of your desktop showing), or does the Legacy
Window take up the whole screen but the text and icons are too big for the
size of the window, resulting in the missing (cut off) stuff? Or,

To change resolution in Windows Vista the shortcut is: right click on a
empty space of desktop and choose Personalize. A window will open and now
you have to choose Display Settings, then just test the resolutions and
choose the one you prefer.
To change windows font size, choose Adjust
I would just like to thank everyone for their suggestions, but in the end
it was Sherry's suggestion that work it out, and I have now changed my font
back to 120 dpi. I had set it as a Custom font of 139 dpi.
