There is no option to explicitly give the gender of the person. By convention however the male parents are on the left and female on the right above a person so the gender is implied by that position. There is no gender based colour used for names in the Family links box so children with an ambiguo

You will have to remember to update Ancestry data each time you make a change to your Legacy data. There is no automatic sync between Legacy Family Tree and Ancestry. You cannot even use a GEDCOM from Legacy for the people you changed to update your existing Ancestry Tree since Ancestry makes a new

I pretty much use "British America" for anything pre-1776. So, for someone living in Plymouth in, say 1750, I'd put: Plymouth, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, British America While technically anything prior to the formation of the United States is properly called "Province of Massachusetts Bay"
