Carolyn,
I suppose that may be fine, provided that looking to the future you will never
wish to use the mapping facility. It is not a practice which I would recommend.

Thanks Ron, no worries.
The suggestion has been submitted yesterday morning and got an acknowledgement.
Now to wait and see if they will incorporate it!
Thanks everyone,
Jemima

Anne,
Most people in my family file do not have an occupation event, while those I
know well may have 5 or 6 such events. How would that work for what you are
proposing?

Anne,
I do the same as Jenny, however, just because in the form there is a field
to fill in you do not have to complete it. Just leave it blank.

Jenny,
I raised that same issue. I have recently been thinking about this issue of
showing events in reports. My thought so far is that events do have dates
associated with them, although we may not know the date(s).
For practical sorting reasons I believe it would be necessary to have what I
Larry,
What you are describing is already available in RootsMagic and The Master
Genealogist. It is called a sort date. This is exactly why I have said on
more than one occasion that Legacy is outdated/behind the times. Legacy
used to be an excellent program. Unfortunately, Millennia doesn't
Jenny,
That is true of course.
That's what happens when I do this in the middle of the night! I failed to see
the obvious.
But the issue of many occupations is still valid.
Thanks for bringing me back to reality. ;-/

Jenny,
The issue is that an occupation doesn't necessarily need a date. If Legacy
used sort dates, this would allow you to put (sort) the occupation (or any
event for that matter) in the proper sequence without having to show a
guesstimated date - sort dates only show in your data, not in your

Larry - What I would like is the following in Legacy Charting
Under Appearances box items - to have the option of adding an event if
desired. I have created an event named Occupation1 in which I have just
entered the occupation of an ancestor in the description field. Most of my

Everything in your posting is Greek to me. What are you talking about? I am

CE,
Legacy has always had a 'sort date'
On invoking Legacy via a desktop link, the Millenia label appears, then the
first Legacy screen with no data, that grays and an O.S. sourced advisory is
slipped under the label, permitting program dismissal and carrying problem
detail:
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH

nvdxgiwrap.dll is a video driver needed for your nVidia graphics chip. Just
google nvdxgiwrap.dll and you'll see lots of problems caused by such a fault.
My suggestion is that you update and/or re-install your video drivers. nVidia
has probably updated the drivers as they tend to do so when
I posted here because Legacy, as far as I can tell, is the only program on the
machine which is having a problem, the driver may be specific to the hardware,
and it has apparently worked perfectly with this same version of Legacy for
