Hi everyone,
Does anyone know if it is possible to produce a Family Tree or Ancestry
Chart type document that has specific Custom events on it?
I have recorded for each relevant person what Vital Stat document/s I hold
for them (Birth, Baptism, Marriage, Death, Burial) and I'd like to be able
to
Kathy,
If I'm understanding you correctly, you want to add information to the
chart you are creating thereby making it a custom type chart.
In Legacy Charting you can manipulate any chart--alter the size of boxes,
add or delete content within those boxes, etc.--the choices are
limitless. If you
I don't believe, that during the discussion on using DropBox to share Legacy
files with other researchers, that the full directions for accomplishing this
task were given.
Can someone please go through each step in saving the file to DropBox and how
to open it up in Legacy, and to save it

The Report Tab Family under Family Group Records allows in [Report Options]
to display Individual and Marriage Events. In most other Reports this option
is greyed out, making it unavailable.
I do not think any Charting option allows you to add Events to the Charts.
This is the only reason I
Its been many months since I've done anything with genealogy, so I don't
know how old the update is ... but I just updated to build 270 and allowed
it to modify the file. All the media is gone. Is there a quick way to
restore it?
Thanks
Legacy User Group guidelines:
Is it still on your hard drive?
If you're in the Picture Gallery, are you seeing a question mark
icon? Just click on one of the icons to bring up the Find FIle
window. Select to let Legacy search for the file.
That *should* relink all pics unless they've been renamed or removed
from the hard
Are the pictures not linked at all (picture icon under people who had
pictures are no longer coloured) or is it just that Legacy is not able
to find the pictures when you click on the picture icon?
In one case all you need to do is point legacy to the right location, if
no links exist however you
yep that worked thanks. not sure why the update caused legacy to forget
where the files are, but no matter -- all set now. Thanks!

Hello everyone:
I'm in need of help with sourcing. I use
Sourcewriter and cannot seem to find a
template that would cover the following
two items.
1) a Name Change
I've entered it as an Event and also entered
the name as an AKA but I'm not finding
a Sourcewriter template that would cover
this

Is there a way to tag ALL marriages in the database? I can see how to
do it with individuals and I already have done that but I would like to
tag all of the marriages so that I can work through them to correct
problems that were in FTM before I converted the file to Legacy. As I
correct them, I
Hi Lavern,
Yes, I am wanting to make a custom chart, I often alter the size of the
boxes and adjust the default settings of what cant go in.
I've looked in the Charting help (and Legacy help) files and I can't see
where I can add specific events to be able to add them to my chart.
It appears on
Hi Jenny,
Thanks for the good suggestions. Have tried each of them and they work;
just a matter of preference at this point. :-)
And, thanks for your last paragraph reminder that bears repeating, Don't
forget that the title of the template doesn't actually appear anywhere in
the Source so even
Hi Kathy,
I wish I could say that I could help you accomplish your goals, but
unfortunately my good intentions are falling short. I've done several
charts (not a fan chart among them) and it sounds like you've done your
share of creating as well. You've also done your homework with the Help
Thanks Virginia, appreciate the input.
Will keep those in mind for after Legacy 8 comes out (and I get all my data
straight and entered in relation to these things)

Do you want to (1) share the file so that each of you can work on the
same file? Or do you (2) want them to have a copy of your file so they
can see what you've got, but not make changes to your original file?
Either way, the file or folder you want to share needs to be in the
Dropbox folder.
What if you Untag all marriaage records of a tag #, then when you correct
them, you TAG them.
Could that work?

Laura,
It looks like, currently, that there is no way to quickly tag all marriage
records. However
The closest I can find is to tag the Individuals, as Legacy does not seem to
allow tagging of marriage in the search function.
