No, I realised that program I see to use (FTM) will do this with no problems at
all.
The only problem is having to export my gedcom, & load it in FTM (making a new
tree file each time) just to view or print out a custom chart.
If I could do it all from within Legacy however.

Chuck,
Search > Miscellaneous > Direct line ancestors with no parents
will give you the "top ends of the branches" for all your ancestor branches -
which I think is the same as your "home" ?

Kathy, Are you still working on this? I have a spreadsheet that I use to track
this sort of thing. Let me know if you'd like me to send it offline. Not very
automatic, but good for a quick glance. (On the other hand, I'm trying to
train myself to use To Do items...)
