My first post here.
I've been using Legacy Deluxe 8.0.0.412, on Windows 7-x64.
When I launched the program today it prompted me to update to '427' and
I responded yes to the prompt. It appeared to download the update, but
apparently it was unsuccessful because another message suggested
Stanley, I received the same error, ignored it, and Legacy 8 ran fine. Just
tell it the all is fine and start it up again.

I went the reinstall route. Windows prompted for permission to run the
update again, and then the installer requested closing Legacy.
It then repeated the install (seemingly faster 2nd time) and on
completion, Windows was also happy. :)
