So when you click on the big L in the blue circle at the top-left, it
does not show other family files recently loaded?
Or, better yet, scan your hard drive for:*.fdb
Sort the results by date - the 2nd most current date is probably the one
you want (most current date is probably the old one
Bob,
You have saved my bacon!!! I didn’t know to look there on the big L. I was able
to open up the file I thought I had lost and learned something new to boot.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Sadly I am going to have transfer my husband's family tree from his Reunion
programme on the Mac to my Legacy on Windows 7.
I realise that I have to export the file as a gedcom but there is also the
problems of the numerous Media and Notes. From memory when I have exported

Karen,
You can find out where your backups are by going to File Backup and
seeing where it says it is saving it. That's where your backups will be.
In future don't save files without checking where they are going and
changing that, if necessary, to where you want them to go.
This also means
Thank you,Cathy. I will be trying your suggestions tomorrow.

Yes, with the Legacy FamilySearch integration. You can move individuals either
way, to or from FS/FT. You can also move a GEDCOM into FT, but before it is
integrated into FT you have to individually ensure that each person is not
already in FT, and then link the person in the correct place. FT
Ordinance information on non-living is not really that confidential.
If you look at the Sample file with the LDS option enabled, you'll see
that in Geoff's file. Anyway, there's no problem with sharing that
data.
With LDS option disabled, that option will not be included in reports
and web pages
Sherry and Mike,
Mike, thanks for your reply, but the files already passed though Legacy
versions prior to 7 with no indication of LDS content, so likely no tools re.
such. I do have Win 2k and XP CDs, but files go back to 98 and 95 days, and I
have no equipment with compatible drivers etc.
I made a copy of my FDB database, renamed it to MDB (Access) imported it in
Open Office (i don’t have MS Access)
After that I copied the tables tblET (EventTypes) and tblRO (Roles) into
spreadsheet
Then I have all Event Definitions with their roles and sentences in easy to
read tables.
But it
Thanks, Sherry, for the ordinance guidance, and I had not thought of exporting
in native mode, which avoids side effects from gedcom use. That should work
fine. If AFN numbers are stripped, that's not a big issue, and I'll keep backup
with them. Thanks also, Brian, for alerting me to that.

The AFN numbers wouldn't be stripped. That's not part of the Ordinance data.
