The mystery remains.
The Options 2.2 are all checked (I had not changed them; assume that is the
default – and it suits me).
Entering incorrect dates was not the problem – but as you point out, it’s easy
to do – I’ve found myself putting married date instead of birth date on
occasions
Follow-up:
I have unlinked the 9 children from the parents; then, intentionally linked
the most-recently-born, followed by the earliest-born, successively for 4 of
the 9 so far.
Apart from the too-large time-gaps between children (according to Legacy's
rules - which I don't care about) it seems t
Ian,
On the Facebook Group you can add screenshots. So much easier.
I think you are saying you've done a Check/Repair.
If that's returning no problems, then you really do need to check Options.
Options - Customise 2.2 is the one covering automatic sorting of children.

I tried the set relationship from tools selecting 'great' on this screen.
The relationship on the family view shows the great-greatuncle
Then I ran the relationship report. It also shows great-greatuncle.
Does your family view match your relationship report?

My upbringing agrees with Henry – almost always “great grand”, not ever “grand
grand” – but the extended family also uses “great great”, for example “great
great aunt Molly”.
But atm I wish that was my only problem – I’m having a weird problem with
“children” (separate post).

This might be easier to show with a series of pictures, or a video - but I
will try to describe the problem.
Despite check repair, etc I have a problem with 9 children added with birth
date (no death date) for all, in a single session of about 20 minutes. This
is a simple family (no half-siblings,

That is the way it is..
It is not Grand Grand Nephew… Just like it is not Grand Grand Father
My grand father is the son of My Great Grand Father.
My Grand Father’s Brother’s son is the Great Grand nephew of his father’s
brother (my great grand father).

Pat,
Go to Tools - Set Relationships and Clear relationships
Do a File - File Maintenance - Check/Repair
Then back to Tools - Set Relationships and Set them again making sure
that Great is chosen on that screen.
Then go to the Report and click the Reset button then choose your
options again
Yup, tried again -- a ouple times -- still get the great grand nephew bit.

Hi Cathy,
What a coincidence! I just emailed to my friend both the revised chart and
a revised narrative report. I had sent her a narrative report earlier (to
which she wanted more info added), and she was thrilled with it! Thanks
again for taking the time to write.

Shirley,
Another idea while you're going back and forth with your friend.
Use the Descendant Narrative report without events and notes but with
marriage status. It's the same order as the descendant chart.
If you're still collecting informtion, turn on the underlines for
missing information to
Pat,
I'm not getting that.
I suggest you Set Relationships again, making sure that "great" is the
chosen term and try again.

Thanks, Cathy! That is what I needed. I looked on the Format tab earlier but
must have skimmed right over that option. Dennis

Dennis,
Do you mean the Father and Mother fields under Husband and Wife?
If so, click the Report Options button then go to the Format Tab and
choose on the right under Blank Line Removal the option Don't remove any

Check out this link. I vaguely recall there was a problem with the
connection between the Help and the videos - perhaps because the
