I have 2281 Find-A-Grave events and in the Edit Events ScreenFindagrave
edit, Private in the lower right is checked
Is there a way to globally uncheck that Private box?

There is no way to globally set events linked to a person as not private.
You can however use the Search Find Detailed Search Tab to find
Individuals with Event-marked Private.
Once you have that list you can use the Events tab to edit the events
for each person in the list. Unfortunately the

I was not aware that changing the privacy of a master event would
propagate to the events linked to the individuals. I just tested and
Jenny is correct. Changing the Master Event from private to not private
will update all the events for the individuals that use that event.
