I recently needed to send information about a few families as a small GEDCOM. While I am relatively new to Legacy, I had no problem creating the small GEDCOM - except for graphics information. When the GEDCOM was imported (to a couple different genealogical applications) the following was found:

Do the other families have Windows computers? If so, you can send them the free version of Legacy and a Legacy backup file - that way everything will be in place at their end. In fact, I think Legacy has a "create CD" option that pretty much does this. You could probably use either a CD or a
