Reports don't include color either.

When color coding follows thru to colored text fonts then that would work,
but any reporting function at this point doesnt show the difference on a
direct line.

Uppercase is a global change. If you want to show your direct line in
uppercase, you will have to edit each individual in the direct line -
which could be difficult since if you have Smiths who aren't in your

You will have to Edit your Master Surname List to ADD the all caps
versions of the names. Once those are in your Surname List you can
choose the all caps version for those people in your direct line. (use
the downward arrow beside their surname box to open the surname list.)

I like your idea of uppercase for surnames of your direct line. I tried
changing my direct line surnames but it won't let me. I had originally told
legacy to make them all initial caps. I tried going to customize, data

It's been my understanding that "File Check'n'Repair" includes "Compact

Barbara,
I run the Master List Clean up almost daily along with the File Check and
weekly compact database.
There are three sections of check boxes
in the Remove abandoned I have ALL checked
in the Keep/Restore Original I have NONE checked.
In the Combined Duplicates I have ALL but Surnames check
I decided to do the items mentioned on your list, but when I came to
'Run master list clean up', I hesitated. If I check all of the boxes
are there any ramifications I should know about?

I'll add checking the release to my monthly file-tidying routine.

Here is what I do at least monthly to maintain my Legacy files:

Delete very old backups
