By creating at Focus Group, you're not creating a new file. You're only
creating a list of individuals within the file you're searching.
It might behoove you to read the Help topic on Focus Groups - click on the
Help button when you're in the Focus Group window for this information:

before I asked for help on Oct. 9th. Also as I was doing the various steps

I'm not sure that you had sorted out your problem completely from what
you said.
Two comments on your attempt to create a focus group AND export that
group to a new family file - I think that's what you are trying to do -
have a new family file for part of your family. It's good to be
