the first issue. Children by the second wife are likely to be younger so
the trick would be to display them by default.

No you cannot sort the children of a blended family group by birth date.
Only the children of the couple are sorted that way. Children of

I THOUGHT I was able to always display all children, including half, and
always sort by date of birth. IOWs, I thought I had that as a default
before I got a new computer. But I can't locate it now.
