I haven't any idea what this thread is about but it caused me to look at
the GeoCountyCodes,txt file on my pc.
My file has a Scottish section and includes e.g. Banff and Banffshire.
I've included a section below on the off chance that your file is
defective.

2. Renamed Geo*.txt to Geo*-Alt.txt
3. In the counties file replaced all Aberdeen with Aberdeenshire and

That is true, but if you find out where the place was in relation to
places existing today you can get the co-ordinates via Bing or Google
and feed them
