Sophie IMHO , this happen because you still in copy/paste(C/P) mode ... between steps 8 and 9 when you finish pasting, hit ESC button to deactivate C/P mode and try to edit the comment, it will be OK and the comment will be saved , because you finish C/P mode. otherwise, C/P mode still active and you can see the borders of copied cell still flushing. Not for creating reports in design view. The Report Wizard seems to crash LO on MacOS - not on Linux, as it is shown as platform. Also it was made for LO 4.2.2.1 I will set this bug back to the first settings. If you have problems with some behavior of LO, first try the following steps: 1. Try to rename home/user/.config/libreoffice/4 to 4_old. If there isn't any 4 it could be your special system has named the path in another way (like suse-4 for OpenSUSE as I recognized sometimes before). The special user-path would be created new. If this helps you have to copy files you need form the old to the new path. 2. Try to use the original packages of LO, not of, for example, openSUSE or Mint 16. On other attempts, i was not able to save the document after step 5 (Resulting in I/O errors, which i have not copied...) I know that (especially step 3) seems a pretty useless action, But these steps should not be the cause of a problem when working with a calc-sheet. Finally, after Joel's comment, i tested this with 4.2.4.2, and same thing go wrong in this version. Test document attached has 700k characters, about 10 times original maximum for a single para but much less than the new maximum. It's the size of a medium length book. Edits attempted are typical of those that would be needed to reformat a poorly formatted manuscript in a completely standardised way for publication. I have used this technique successfully before with MSO. In summary, LO is not yet up to this job. Win 7/64; 24Mb memory; i7 processor Steps to reproduce etc: Do regular expression replace $ with ###NEW### to create a single large paragraph. Takes c50 sec, no progress bar. (Ctrl+Z takes c 37 sec, no progress bar) In single para created as above, attempt to replace ARB with rabb Progress bar is slow to appear and progress is very slow. After around 15 mins at about 2/3 complete, the editing results appears at the top of the document and get the dialogue box: To proceed with this action, you must first turn off the undo function. Do you want to turn off the undo function? Answer ‘yes’ to the prompt. Control is not returned to the user, even after an extended wait ( 1 hour), so assume LO is looping (it's still active in task manager, but 'not responding'. A similar and more likely edit, replacing \s+ with a single space is even slower (about 10% complete after 1 hour). It does not reach the 'turn off undo' dialogue and does not return control to the user. The number of edits required is almost exactly the same as the other one. The conversion to png format fails for jpg and jpeg files resulting in images of 0 bytes. this messes up the document terribly. Steps to reproduce: 1. Make a new document 2. Insert graphic files in png, gif and jpgeg/jpg formats 3. Save as docx the gif-files will be converted to png, the jpegs will be destroyed. Current behavior: 1. Convert graphics files to png format without asking the user. 2. Attempt to convert jpegs, when this fails store anyway as files with 0 bytes as size. Expected behavior: 1. Do not automatically convert to PNG but keep as is. 2. Should conversion be necessary or an option then either convert correctly, or refuse to save if there are serious errors.
