Mike, this could make sense *if* it is normal to ask where the Bezier
curve touches the left or right side of its bounding box.

as the make dependency, because that blatantly ignores all include path

Very good! The MetaFont code could still be improved, but don't think
about it. The only things you have to improve in MetaFont are the
character boxes, which are broken. Example:
