None of this is necessarily an impediment to moving forward if you feel
that the user should just be careful, but it does run the risk of leaving an
unchecked way in lilypond to cause a huge time drain.

I think it's good to get a warning message when there's spillover, but it
seems odd that an overflow of 0 would solicit a warning message. Thoughts?

I tried setting a flag like that, but the problem is that the stencils are
drawn in parallel and not in series, so by the time I've set this flag the
