Why not create a BAT script (or whatever scripting language you prefer) that
first calls LilyPond and then epstool?
LilyPond already contains too many dependencies to external programs,
and I guess the main hackers don't want yet another external program that
has to be included in the LilyPond
I want to move some lyrics much closer to the staff. I also think I
need to decrease the space below them as well. I have not yet found the
right place in the docs. Could somebody point the way?

Which LilyPond version? The vertical spacing handling has changed
significantly
in the latest development version 2.11, compared to earlier versions.
You should be able to find several examples in the mailing list
archives. The
basic ideas are described in the section on Vertical spacing
Bernard, if this helps you, could you please add it to LSR so that other
people can easily find this answer?

I do the same (with Verdana Bold though), but I think there is a way
to define your own
The notation g/b4 is apparently incorrect, it should be g4/b.
Could the error message be improved somewhat? The following is rather
unhelpful. Basically I had to take apart my chord sheet measure by
measure to find the offending entry.

When I write

Wow - I am deeply impressed about this software! I spent several hours
(and a part of the night...) to understand the basics and to print my
first layout.
