Thanks for that suggestion. Do you know where I can get the gnome
backend, or do I just need to download the earlier version of Lilypond?
However, I think there is a more general issue here about graphical
notation in scores. I'm using various bits of graphics in this piece

The output for this displays slurs clashing with accidentals. I've
seen this kind of collision before - but is there no way to avoid it

Hello,
I was wondering if you would be able to help me... I would like to replace the
lines of the staff with consecutive rows of letter names. And alternate the
colors of the staff lines (1=black 2=blue 3=black 4=blue 5=black).
I would also like to replace the number on the bottom of the time
Thanks Mats for the information and reference. That helps a fair bit.
It would be nice to get the no-trespass zone of the sharp to move away
from its center a bit - but all in due time, I suppose.
Manual tweakage, here I come! (gotta love it!)

Actually, I can't quite rest on the accidental-slur issue.
The attached image looks to me like an unacceptable collision. Shouldn't
the slur handling be able to avoid this kind of situation? I get it in both
the stable and unstable releases. While

Hi,
I have started using lilypond successfully and like it a lot, but I have run into one problem which I cannot figure out for the life of me. I entered feathered beams for one beat, and now all the music I enter on that staff from that point on is feathered.
I am using version 2.10.25 on Mac

No, there's no scoping rule like that. :) You need to revert the

\override Score.BarNumber #'X-offset = #-2

I don't know a simple way.

Thank you for your help, I thought I might need to change the settings back.
I did get a chance to look through the chapters you mentioned, but couldn't really find anything that would change the settings back for the feathered beams. I'm not sure exactly what it is I should be typing. Sorry if
