Please look at the bottom of the Midi Player window. What does it say?
(Like "Midi file loaded:" or "Error:") Also, the activity log of jEdit
could help.

It says "Unable to open midi device".

Then your sound config is not correct. On linux i think you need alsa drivers.

Very very strange. I can even delete the pdf while displaying in the viewer.
Could you send me a screenshot with the error displayed to see your config.
Also please send the activity log of jedit after such an error. In the plugin
manager window you can check the version number.
