I looked around but I cannot tell if this behavior is known (it is a rare
scenario) and I cannot tell if this is a desired behavior. Perhaps it is.
thank you for any help,

Hi masterbuilder/Gylfi,
This looks like a cool package. Designing the user interface, I think,
really is a matter of taste. My abjad-ext-microtones is meant specifically
to work with the abjad API, so I only implemented a set of accidental
overrides. I also thought it was important to design the st

Hello,
I am wondering if anyone can assist me with a custom spanner. I do not have
any example code, but I have code for a vibrato spanner which I believe
could be modified for this purpose. Sometimes a scratch sound on a string
instrument is notated with a spanner that increases in size. I have

Hi Jean,
I'm sorry for my last confused email. I see what you mean about overriding
the VoiceFollower property outside of the engraver. In my test file I was
trying to override incorrectly.
Thanks again for your help,

Hi Jean,
Yes I’m still pretty much a Scheme beginner even though I have been trying
to learn. My first language is Python.
Thanks for the advice about not destroying the other details values.
No, there is no special reason to read from the notehead, except that I

you might see in the commented line. However any time I try to replace 0.5
with a variable or a returned value from a function, an error is returned.
So I think I might not understand something about association lists in
Scheme. Do you have advice for passing in this value?

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone has a technique for trills with more than one
trill pitch. I have been using custom text spanners drawn with the trill
shape and I've used some fancy tweaking on a group of after-grace notes. I
recently ran into a problem (which is not necessarily the purpose of th
Hi Jean,
Yes this explains my confusion. I was assuming that all of these techniques
were equivalent. I will take the time to learn how the different approaches
alter the spacing and I will choose what I need.
To answer what I meant about bifurcating the bracket:

Hi everyone,
I'm wondering if anyone can explain a lilypond behavior I did not expect. I
noticed today that tuplet brackets appear over skips in the middle of the
tuplet but not over skips which appear at the edges of the tuplet. I
imagine this is a bug since the treatment is inconsistent (i.e. it
Hello Jean,
This looks just like what I was looking for.

Hi Everyone,
Yes Andrew, that excerpt is from Mahnkopf: good eye!
Thanks Karim, your override is a good step in the right direction for me.
So now I guess what I'm looking for is a way to query the tuplet bracket
for its direction while tweaking the tuplet number.

Hello,
I am trying to imitate a notation that is sometimes found in scores where
tuplets are of uncommon duration (I can provide an incipt if necessary). I
have seen the ratio of a tuplet bracket annotated with a parenthesized note

Hi everyone,
Yes music notation is strictly pre-cartesian. Notice the durational
representation of musical time requires all these dots, ties, and prolation
brackets to get anything that isn't just powers of 2. And notes don't
Hi Paul,
I would guess that someone here has a better solution (I'm basically
ignorantly chiming in because I was thinking about grace slashes recently),
but here’s what I’ve been doing to slash-beamed graces, in order to show an
option other than \slash. And it visually matches the slashed flags a

Hi lilypond users,
I have a question about getting the Y position of a grob. I saw this
question has been asked previously but I could not find if it had been
answered. In the following example, an after-line-breaking function is
defined such that no change on the output should occur. The grob is o
