verriding the force-hshift for the g sharp has no effect. Is that
because the d and the g sharp are in different voices? How do I make
them aware of each other? Alternatively, how does one override a beam
to be shorter at one end?

Oh, very go
Hello world,
I need to create a tie that stops in the middle of a bar (the final
note of a piece should carry a tie to nowhere to indicate `laissez
vibrer'). Tying to an invisible grace note does not work -- it would
create an additional bar. I reckon I can fill the 2/4 bar with a
quarter note an

Hello list,
I want to set fingerings above and below a massive chord to indicate
that the pianist should `borrow' the left thumb to play the lowest
note of the middle chord. (Yes, I do want the numbers to piled on top
of each other. No, I don't care about wasting vertical space.) So I

Greetings,
I am having a hard time convincing Lilypond to create a tie between
enharmonic variants:

Buoyed by my recent success in polyphonic typesetting, I tried to
install LilyPond on my home PC. These are the versions I have:
lilypond 2.4.2
ec-fonts-mftraced 1.0.9
mftrace 1.1.2
tetex 2.0.2
Now, LilyPond creates the .dvi file perfectly, but neither .ps or .pdf
files. It turns out th

Hello list,
I am having trouble setting lyrics to a choral part that divides
itself for a few bars only. Here is an excerpt:
#(ly:set-option 'old-relative)
\version "2.4.0"
\score {
<<
\context Voice = "T" {
\set Staff.instrument = "T." \set Staff.instr = "T."
