The latest stable version is 2.8.7. To upgrade, just uninstall your current version and install the new one. Utilities like midi2ly in 2.8.7 should work well on Windows XP, but if you want to use lilypond-book, you should rather try the latest development version 2.9.22 or wait for 2.10 which s
