QT movies (better referred to as digital video, so as to not confuse things
any more than necessary) have to be external. Either keep it with the
project or provide an explicit path to them.

If the casts are internal, that means that they are internal to the MOVIE
(not to Director).
Your second question asks about converting external to internal. Was that
a typo in your first question?

I am about to burn my first Director project to Cd, my question is this, all
my cast are internal except my qt movies how do i ensure that director can
see these on the cd when it's published? in other words how do i reference
them.
Or is it possible to turn an external cast into an internal one
