Where would the kernel symbol netdev_fastroute get defined?
I've installed Debian for S/390, with the 2.4.17 kernel, under z/VM 4.3,
using a vCTC.
I'm now trying to give it a HiperSockets interface. No, I am not
concerned about ideological purity.
The qdio module loads OK.
However, when I

So, uh, how do I get the netdev_fastroute symbol into my kernel? And if
I've made more updates to linuxvm.org. I'm caught up through July 19th.
Of special note this time is Jim Sibley's contribution of a write-up on
compression on RVA devices with Linux/390.

Sergey,
Thank you for responding.
I tried to track the problem down more thoroughly and found out that the lcs module
does not load.
Would you tell me why it doesn't load ?
I change nothing in my configuration.
Right after the installation - when the system works very well - I do:
gzip -dc
Dave,
Many people including myself ran into this very same problem. The short
answer is that you need to use something other than a Windows based PC ftp
server to serve up the SuSE CDs.
Linux is using some ftp extensions that Windows doesn't have. Try using a
Linux PC with an ftp server
Thanks again for all of your help!!! :-)
Here is a copy of the notes I took. Please let me know if anything
is not accurate.

Well, I rebuilt Debian, but ended up with a kernel that would not boot.
I think something to do with devfs. So here's the question: where do I
get a copy of the kernel .config that the Debian-2.4.17 release was
built with, since all I want to do to it is turn on
Hello!
With our latest 2.4.7 patches there is a problem with CMS reserved
minidisk:
As soon as you start to do I/O to a CMS reserved minidisk on a system with
VM pseudo page fault support, the application doing the I/O hangs forever.
The following patch applies on top of the developerworks
Thank you all for the assistance. As it turns out my recent copy of the Developers
edition does NOT contain the COMPAT.RPM file. I did find it on an older version of
the Developers edition. When it was installed it did create the symlink:

Is anyone running a combination of Java, Oracle, Weblogic, on Linux/390?
If you are, would you be willing to talk with someone else
running a similar configuration?
Thanks!
I am having a problem loading php4 module to work with apache.
It just fails to load.
I have SuSe 7.0 with 2.2.16 kernel.
Any suggestions, Please.

Fellow Linux folks,
I did a very bad thing. I meant to send some notes to
a particular individual and ended up sending them to
the list. I would be eternally grateful if people would
please disregard it.
Thank you very much.

Hello,
The correct way would be to edit the util-linux.spec file and rebuild the
package with the patched spec file.
Search for /sbin/fdisk in the %files section and either comment it out or
better surround with ifnarch like this:
%ifnarch s390 s390x
/sbin/fdisk
%endif

Hi again,
OK, took your hint below and went ahead and manually added the lines that
patch couldn't, and make image was a lot happier.
After that the rest of the steps in the HOWTO went as per the doc.
Overall, a good learning experience.
How does one actually confirm that the timer is not
