If I understand you correctly you can't ping from the MP3000 to your
desktop or vice versa. Right ?
Are they on the same subnet ?? If not check your routes.
If you want to check telnet, try telneting from the MP3000 to itself,
that will tell you if it's running.

yesterday I added a 5 gig minidisk from a mod9 to one of our images using
dirmaint. I added the new disk to zipl.conf, zipl'd, shutdown and logged
